The new Collesanto “Small Scale LNG” development project for the production of liquefied natural gas supports the energy transition for a cleaner Abruzzo. Under the banner of environmental responsibility, “Small Scale LNG” will lead to an improvement in energy efficiency with a view to contributing to decarbonisation and the production of gas intended especially for local consumption and to encourage the development of vehicles powered byalternative fuels intended for road and maritime transport, in addition to industrial use in nearby industrial districts such as Attessa, one of the most important in Central Italy.

The new Collesanto “Small Scale LNG” development project presents a a number of advantages for the region and the environment. Here they are point by point.
It is the first “Small scale LNG” project in Italy built directly in a natural gas field.
It will produce 2 billion scm of gas for local consumption.
This is 0 km LNG in an energy-intensive industrial area.
The guaranteed local supply of natural gas in the form of LNG is equal to 40,800+ tons/year on average.
It will contribute to a cleaner Abruzzo through the use of LNG for road and maritime transport.
It will contribute to the competitiveness of the local industry.
This is a new investment of approximately 70 million Euros of capex with hundreds of jobs during construction and «Multiplier Effect» in the local economy.
This is local production with lower transportation costs and less environmental impact vs. gas coming from Russia or other regions of the world..
There will be no new drilling with respect to existing and already drilled wells.
Pipelines and auxiliary infrastructures for the gas collection network will no longer be necessary.
It is the first gas liquefaction plant in Europe with simultaneous capture and liquefaction of CO2 for approximately 1,400 tons/year not released into the atmosphere.
